We are a group of Grade 6 students here at École Golden Gate. Every day offers a new challenge as we make our way through our first year of Middle School together! Please take a look around our blog to see what we've been up to!

It's been a while...

Time sure has flown by since spring break! It's hard to believe that May is just around the corner!
Here's a quick recap of all that has been keeping us busy so far this month.

Mme Bees came to visit us for 2 Roots of Empathy lessons.
The theme of one lesson was security and the theme of our second lesson was communication.
Here we are making "door hangers" with different messages of how to stay safe. We had the choice of creating a door hanger for ourselves, for a friend or for baby Arlo.

Here we are creating nursery rhymes pages. We worked with a partner and wrote a nursery rhyme in either French or English and got to decorate the page using lots of colour. Mme Bees will laminate the pages and bind them together to make a special book for baby Arlo and maman Sarah to read together!

Here we are in our groups after we presented our Reader's Theatre plays. We practiced all week and had to opportunity to showcase our hard work to the class. We all read with such great expression. Mme Careen was VERY impressed with our incredible theatrical abilities!

We are having a lot of fun in Math these days too! We are fortunate to have Mme K (one of our school division's Math Numeracy Specialists) working with us for the next couple of weeks. Here we are working in partners to complete different Math activities, BUT these were NOT your typical "sit down and solve an equation" problems. We were busy building 3D shapes, solving puzzles, using Math manipulative and all sorts of things!
Our time together flew by and our brains certainly got one tough workout!

Here we are taking some time out to read in our reading groups. We are still using our "4 fantastiques" reading strategies each time we tackle a new article, text or story.

And, last but not least... and better late than never... here is our April picture!

We're still looking great and ready for another great week of learning! :)
