We are a group of Grade 6 students here at École Golden Gate. Every day offers a new challenge as we make our way through our first year of Middle School together! Please take a look around our blog to see what we've been up to!

It's Thursday!

This morning in Math we continued working on our PPCM (LCM - lowest common multiple) sheets and started creating our very own PPCM Samba! We divided up into groups and each group member had to choose a multiple and what action they would do each time a number of their multiple was said. In the example we did as a class, Gabby clapped on each multiple of 2, Gracie jumped for every multiple of 5 and Mme Careen snapped every multiple of 6. When all three actions were done together for the first time, that number represented our PPCM! So fun! We will have a bit more time to practice next week before presenting to the class.

After Mathé, Mme Bees came to our class for our Roots of Empathy pre-visit lesson.
Today we talked about feelings and emotions. What makes a baby happy, sad, angry or scared? When do we feel those same emotions? How do we look or act?
Our next visit with baby Arlo is coming up next week!
We are all very excited to see him again so soon!

Last but not least, we had our daily story time with Mme Careen before we got to work on our concours speeches. Today Mme Careen read "Le Chandail de Hockey." Many of us had heard this story before, but it was so fun to listen to again!

What a great week of learning we had... and we can't wait to do it all again next week!
(And next week is a busy one too! I Love to Read Month continues, the Great Kindness Challenge is on -  complete with assemblies and a spirit week, our concours rough copies are due, we begin prepping for Festival fun... and then 'regular' good ol' learning on top of that! Wow! Rest up this three-day weekend... we'll need all the extra energy we can get!)
